Columbia Gorge, Oregon My heart pounds powerfully in my chest
The climb to the top is arduous at best
Neither to the left nor to the right
This hike is taking all my might

Not another step in this very long mile
So I rest my body for a little while
When suddenly a bird sings me a song
Must be for me as we're all alone

I look now to the right of this trail
And a smile upon my lips does prevail
In such a hurry, blind I had been
Might have missed that beauty within
